DIY Winter Craft // Snowflake Wall Hanging

Okay, let's get something straight right off the bat...
THIS WAS NOT MY FAVORITE PROJECT EVER.
There I said it. You win some, you lose some, that is real life.
Although this project is not bad, it is not what I envisioned in my head when I dreamt it up!
On the surface, it sounds SO EASY!
But let me explain what I did, and then I'll explain what I would change if I were to do it again (which I probably will...)
WHAT YOU NEED:
A tree branch. No, I'm not joking.
Something to tie it all together (I used twine, but you can use string or yarn too)
Paint (I used white, but a frosty blue would look good too. Maybe a combination of both?)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
WHAT TO DO:
(Remember when I said it sounded easy? Well, this might still sound easy, but it was actually frustrating as hell and not as easy and I wanted it to be. So there, you've been warned)
Pick a branch to be your "base" and decide which way to hang it. (I recommend testing it out to see which way it naturally hangs and looks good. I did not do this, and thus regret it)
Then you will collect a series of smaller branches and pair them into 3 and or 4 branch bunches. What I did do right and I recommend is to "plan out" how your snowflake will look.
Arranged the "snowflakes" how you would like them and glued them together. (Here is another place I wish I would have changed. My personal glue gun is packed away so I borrowed one and it was cheap glue that was slightly yellow in color and took forever to dry. Make sure you use quality glue that is clear and dries quickly and make sure you use equipment you are comfortable with.)
Once the snowflakes are assembled, plan out how and where you want each snowflake to hang.
Wrap the twine around your snowflakes and around your base stick. Glue in place to make sure they don't move or slide.
I waited until the end to paint, but you can do this step at any point! You can also choose to completely paint, or dust them as I did. Both look great and this is a personal preference!
Now add your hanging wire. (Here is another place I went wrong) I recommend using the same material you used to hang the snowflakes. (I just ran out) OR use a clear fishing wire to create the effect of a "floating" hanger.
LASTLY, hang, and enjoy!

Well, I'll chalk this failure up to REAL LIFE. Like I said, I may not be happy with it, but you can always try again! That's the beauty of DIY and crafty. Try, try, and try again!
Or Eat. Sleep. Craft. Repeat.
