New Year New Me?

So... I've been doing this blog thing for a few months now. I think it's getting pretty serious, don't you?
Here's the thing though, I've got big plans! Not only for this blog but for my whole social media presence, for my personal life, my professional career, etc, etc.
But first, let me introduce myself to the new people.

Hi, I'm Lynsey. Nice to meet you!
I am a #boymom to two wonderful little men. Henry, my oldest, will be 8 years old soon and is so full of energy and creativity! Freddie is 8 months and has the funniest personality. He is so serious, but such a funny little guy. My husband, Craig, and I joke about how Henry looks just like him and acts just like me, and that Freddie looks like me and acts like him.
Craig and I met in a bowling league way back in the day. One thing led to the next and I think everyone, including myself, was shocked that I fell so fast for this guy! He was the complete opposite from the guys I had previously dated and he was 11 years older than me. Well, 10 years later and here we are! Still together, still in love, and still total opposites. I guess it's true what they say, opposites do attract, right?
Okay, so let's talk about 2021
A fresh new year usually brings fresh new goals and resolutions. But I don't like resolutions and here's why...
They always fail!
No, I'm not joking, think about it! When was the last time you found yourself in, let's say May, thinking about your New Year resolution and whether or not you are on track. Think even more about in November or December. Do you really keep them that long? I'm going to go out on a limb and say NO.
Let me talk about a trend that is becoming more popular and my personal experience with it.
PICK A WORD or a THEME for the year. Hold onto this theme, write it down, revisit it, reorganize based on it, and see how your year carries out!

Back at the beginning of 2020, I picked the word GROWTH for my theme. What happened was, in my mind, amazing! I literally doubled my Instagram following, grew my family, my understanding of the world, cultures, religions, and more. I stuck with it and every couple of weeks I would revisit that word and make sure my goals at the time aligned with what I wanted to do.
This year, for 2021, I picked the word HOPE. Going in a little different direction, but I feel like, after the year we just had, hope was the right path to take.
With that being said, here are a couple of my long term goals for this year:
(p.s. when making long term goals, break them up into micro-goals to ensure successful completion. Also, make SMART goals. I could make a whole post on this, but that's where I'll leave it for now.)
Double my following, again.
Move into a new home.
Focus on my health.
Start school.
Spend more time with family.
Go on vacation.
Nothing too major, but I didn't want to completely drown myself this year. If 2020 taught me anything, it was to slow down and enjoy things a little more.
Now I want you to meet a few of my friends!
Great post! So funny I wrote something similar on my blog. I wish you great success with your word and your goals to accomplish this year ♡
You’re so right! That’s why this year I also didn’t make any strict resolutions. Instead I will be focusing on the word “growth”. I general I want to grow into the person I want to be & know I can be. (That includes academic, inter-personal, business, etc. growth)
I never heard of choosing a word until this year and I love the idea!! I totally agree about new year resolutions and love the tip to break it down into steps.
Loved your 'meet cute!' :) This is great advice! I feel like I try to do too many things and it ultimately leads to failure. I love your theme for 2021 too!
